salvato telles de menezes  

Currently executive administrator of D. Luis I foundation, Salvato Telles de Menezes started his academic career in Faculdade Letras Lisboa – Classic University, teaching English and North-American literature and literary theory. With a strong link to the world of cinema, Salvato Telles de Menezes’ career encompasses participation in the organization of various Portuguese film festivals, such as programming director of the Troia International Film Festival, vice-president of the Portuguese Cinema Institute (IPACA), president of the Lisbon Village Festival and curator of the Douro Film Harvest. Throughout his career, he was board member of several institutions, namely the Portuguese Institute of Superior Education (IPES), the Lisbon Classic University and was deputy to the secretary of state of culture in 2003. He also published several works, both as author and translator.

 

joão pinharanda

João Pinharanda was born in 1957 in Mozambique. He studied history at the Faculdade de Letras at Lisbon University and holds a master’s degree in history of art from the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of Nova University Lisbon. He initiated his career as an art critic in 1984 at Jornal de Letras, becoming head of the art section of Público, one of the biggest newspapers in Portugal, in 1990. Working together with specialized magazines in Portugal and abroad, he was also responsible for the representation of Portugal at ARCO Madrid in 1998. Throughout his career, João Pinharanda commissioned a considerable number of individual and collective exhibitions inside and outside the country, standing out the representation of Portuguese art in Montrouge (1999), in Mexico City (2005) and in Moscow (2006), as well as the retrospectives of António Areal (Serralves/CAM, 1990), Jorge Pinheiro (CAM, 2003), João Jacinto (Fundação D. Luís I e MEIAC, 2002) and Manuel Botelho (CAM, 2005). He is also author of the essays about Portuguese art for the collective works directed by Paulo Pereira, History of Portuguese Art and António da Costa Pinto, Contemporary Portugal (1.ª edição, Standford University Press), among others. Currently, he holds a guest professorship at the department of architecture at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, is artistic consultant for the EDP Foundation and Programming Director at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Elvas/Collection António Cachola.  

 

luísa soares de oliveira 

Luísa Soares de Oliveira was born in Lisbon, where she currently lives and works, after having spent several years in Brasil and France, where she earned a "maìtrise" in Art History from the Université Paris I. She holds a lectureship at the Escola Superior de Artes e Design of Caldas de Rainha, where she teaches several disciplines related to art history and theory. In 1990, she started to work with one of the major Portuguese newspapers, Público, and other art related magazines. Over the years, she has published a considerable number of texts for catalogs and curated several exhibitions in the fields of painting, sculpture, installations and ceramics. Being member of several juries, highlighting the CityDesk Award of Sculpture in 2004 and the Biennale of Ceramics of Aveiro in 2005, she was responsible for the Portuguese representation in Biennale of Ceramics of Vallauris (France, 2002) and the European Ceramic Contest (Bornholms Kunstmuseum, Dinamarca, 2006). In 2003, she published together with Ruth Rosengarten a monograph about Ana Vidigal (Assírio & Alvim), followed by a monograph about Jorge Vieira in 2008 (editorial Caminho). She also participated in a number of conferences, standing out a conference about Portuguese Culture at the University of Kuala Lumpur in 1997, jointly organized by the Camoes Institute of Malaysia and the Orient Foundation. In 1999-2000, she was invited by José-Augusto França to be editorial secretary for the Eveluations Commission of the art courses of the Foundation of the Portuguese Universities. In 2002 to 2003, she earned a post-graduate at the Nova University of Lisbon in Contemporary Culture and New Technologies. Currently, she is preparing her doctorate at the Universidade Politecnica de Valencia.  

 

teresa caeiro  

Teresa Margarida Figueiredo de Vasconcelos Caeiro was born in Lisbon in 1969. She studied law at the Faculdade de Direito at the Lisbon University, having worked as a lawyer during six years, before joining politics in 1999, integrating the party CDS-PP as head of the Parliamentary Group. During her political career she held several positions, standing out her post as Civil Governor between 2002 and 2003, as Secretary of State of Social Security and Secretary of State of Art and Culture in the XV and XVI Constitutional Government, respectively. She also integrates the Commission on the Ethics, Society and Culture and the Health Commission, among others. Currently Vice-President of CDS-PP and Deputy in the X Legislation , she is Deputy Member of the Parliamentary Board, active member of AWEPA and represents the Parliamentary Group of CDS-PP in the Portuguese Parliamentary Group for Population and Development. 

 

Scientific research

helena murteira 

Helena Murteira was born in Lisbon in 1958. She has a degree in History from the Universidade de Lisboa, a postgraduation course in Conservation and Rehabilitation of Buildings and Monuments from the Faculdade de Belas-Artes, Universidade de Lisboa in 1986 and a Master degree in Art History from the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1994. She completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh, Department of Architecture in 2006. She has worked at the Fine Arts Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon since 1987. From 1993 to 2004, she was an Assistant Director and from 2005 to 2010 she was the coordinator of the Theatre and Dance section. Currently, she collaborates with the Gulbenkian Program for the Performing Arts. She is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Centro de História da Arte e Investigação Artística – CHAIA (Centre for Art History and Artistic Research), Universidade de Évora and a guest lecturer at the Faculdade de Ciências Socias e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She has participated in several international conferences on Art History and history of architecture and town planning and has published several essays on these subjects.
